Basic TCP/IP features:-

Windows 98 system TCP/IP address dynamically assigned by ISP. (Internet Service Provider)

Internal clients can be manually assigned TCP/IP addresses (not recommended) or assigned by the Internet Connection sharing software, using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

The TCP/IP addresses and disk or printer sharing of the internal systems are hidden from the internet.

Internet Connection sharing software also provides name resolution services for the clients.

It is strongly recommended that a Firewall package is installed on the Windows 98 system. For example Zone Alarm available from http://www.zonealarm.com this will further protect your systems from attack by other internet users.

The diagram below shows an outline of the final set-up.
